A Long Long Time Ago..

haha, i was just packing up my CDs, which have been lying all over the place and are all unlabeled. and i found some really ancient pictures, we are growing up so fast..! how young and innocent we looked then.. haha. and hs was a piece of chocolate.

oh and this was the first time i puked after drinking.

Food, and the Odd Ends

wow, its been more than 2 weeks since i updated. and i was under the impression that it was just a few days! guess tt's what happens when u aren't around the computer so much..

there's just too much to write.. so i shall just blog pictures, which are sadly, all food pictures.. i guess i am just greedy.. :(

last week i was at the esplanade watching this symphonic orchestra called "West Winds".. they performed many pieces from Japan, and the conductors were Major Philip, the conductor for the SAF band and judge for SYF, as well as Mr Ito, who is a composer and famous Professor from a Music School in Japan. Mr Ito was really quite funny and i thought he was good as well.. excellent man.. :) i wouldn't say the band was fantastic, but decent i guess. but overall the pieces were not the type that i enjoy most, which would be the really majestic and soaring types, which incidentally, the RI band loves to play! the audience though, was horrendous!!! seriously, there were pple clapping when the piece was obviously not over, and when the conductor raised a hand to shush them, there were idiots who gave lone claps here and there on purpose. its so absurd.

so anw, after the concert, we had desserts at max brener's.. tried rather different desserts this time. the waffle was nothing special, but the crepe was quite unique, with its rum and raisin filling.. :) which reminds me, i hate ichiban boshi.. well, i actually knew tt long ago, but since kat wanted to go to fill up his card, we all obliged. haha.. and turns out the service was slow as ever, and the variety of food is so puny.


this was a dinner at the Peranakan Inn at frankel, near my place.. :)

there food came quickly! which was great cuz i was starving.. the set dinner was cheap.. $78+++ for 4.. this was an additional dish, Ngoh Hiong.. which was nice.. i love the crunchy water chestnut bits!

this was Buah Kah Lat with Ayam, and Chap Chai.. very traditional dishes.. the chicken was really good!

this was a rather unique soup.. which consisted of a flower crab with the crab meat minced with some other meat, cooked in a delicious broth.. :)

Prawns! with i forgot what sauce this is called.. but YUMMM! shit, i really can't remember the sauce name.. was it sour-ish and spicy and maybe even a little prawny..

sambal coated fish.. :D it looks ferociously spicy, but it really isn't, the sambal is fragrant and mildly spicy only..

was so sad the dessert was so small! haha. but overall the peranakan fare was done well and it was cheap!

yeah, and after tt dinner, there was more food for me.. :/ ok no, i didn't eat this sandwich.. else i'd really be alarmed.

but i had to have another dessert.. and it was the Devil's Devotion (is it? i dun quite remember - i hope i didn't create such a dark name for their dessert)..

anw, its just a molten chocolate lava cake, with vanilla ice cream and some crispy decoration on top.

ahh, yes, u can see the warm insides oozing out.. fantastic stuff! :D

so anw, tt day, we caught a movie at the singapore film fest picked by aud.. *cough* it was, soporific to say the LEAST. my gosh, the film was in black and white, and the conversations were few and far between. the frames zoomed in on character's stoic faces to no end.. it was like a was watching people frozen in time. the old men, and young men as well, took an age to formulate their sentences, and though you might expect intricate sonnets to erupt from their orifices since they took forever to come up with their lines, they did not. and yes, the movie is called "The Man From London". a great test of patience this piece of work is.

and this is a random drink at Biopolis.. it was surprising really good.. and cheap as well. mine was a macadamia flavored steamed milk. refreshing on an extremely hot day, and huge enough to keep me occupied and my lips moist for a good while so that it won't be finished with it after 5 mins of conversation.

an this was dinner at Princep Street, at some place tt sells crepes.. is it a crepery? i forgot. anw, all the waitresses speak a strange accent, and though i wanted to ask them abt it, the others insisted it was filipino.


the owners were french! and on to the food. the crepes were quite good.. i liked the buttery taste of the skin, and though my filling wasn't that good, aud's, which is also the recommended one, is really delish! it had potato, cheese and ham and some other meats. the cheese makes it really good..!


after tt, we actually wanted to go somewhere else for desserts, but ended up at Wild Oats for drinks instead.



except, no one ordered drinks.. -.-" this was what we ordered. haha, i was so greedy, i had the 2 mini burgers. haha, they were FANTASTIC. and i say this, not feeling tt hungry at tt time since it was post dinner.. the miserly chicken bits with blue cottage cheese was shared by many, including an ian tt refused to consume too much fats for fear of a burgeoning flabs.

but the place is really great.. if it doesn't rain. there were many many cats, which evange wanted to stuff into boxes. which is what my burger's plate is resting on. she reckons tt if pple like me opens the box, the cat will pounce..

last of the series of food pictures. this was at gourmet plus, another restaurant at frankel (which is near my place if u wanna know)! its a butchery cum restaurant, so you know the meats are really fresh. this was claire's starters, which is a whole bunch of mussels. it was good, and actually now that i think about it, more delicious than those i had at brussel sprouts. but these are so ex, $24 i think, probably only half as much as u can get at brussel sprouts for $18 with free flow of fries. haha

weili the adventurous had beef tartar.. i know i'm not spelling this rite. its RAW beef.. haha. however, the seasoning or whatever they use makes the meat taste quite good, and what's more, it is so tender.. none of those problems u get with those overcooked steaks ;) now u know what to have when u are on dentures.

my duck confit. HEAVENLY. MMMMMMM. the duck had so much fats, which just melt in your mouth, as u bite into the juicy flesh and the crispy skin. yes, this has got to be one of my favorite dishes. and this was done so well, one of the best i've had in singapore. YES YES YES!!!!

aud's carbonara, which is really good, but i mean it just pales in comparison with the other food.. :p

ian's lamb shank.. this was really good as well. the meat just slips of the bone. its so tender and the meat full of flavor and juices. i have to order this the next time i head over.. :D
